How the NiTi Expander Works
Most palatal expanders rely on a parent turning a screw a little each day.
The NiTi expander works differently. It is made from a wire that responds to temperature, so once it is in place, body heat activates it and it applies a light, continuous pressure on its own. There is no daily adjustment to remember and very little laboratory work to set it up.
That gentle, steady force widens the upper jaw at the midpalatal suture, the growth line along the roof of the mouth. As the palate widens, it corrects a posterior crossbite and rotates molars into their proper position, creating room the teeth need without the discomfort of a rapidly cranked expander.
