Bent Wire System (BWS) in Beverly, MA
The Bent Wire System is a light-wire appliance that develops the front of the dental arch and creates room for the canine teeth to come in.
It guides the teeth into alignment and widens the arch without crowding the natural position of the tongue.
We usually use it alongside other appliances, most often the Myobrace, so that jaw development and myofunctional habits are corrected together.
The BWS develops the arch and makes room for the teeth, without ever crowding the tongue.
How the Bent Wire System Works
The Bent Wire System is a light, flexible wire appliance that gently widens the front of the dental arch.
As the arch develops, it opens the space that crowded or blocked canine teeth need to come into position, and it does this without pushing against the natural resting place of the tongue. On its own, the BWS handles arch development and front-tooth alignment.
We usually pair it with the Myobrace, so that the underlying causes, poor jaw development and myofunctional habits like mouth breathing and tongue thrust, are corrected at the same time.
Together they treat both the room the teeth need and the habits that limited it.
The Bent Wire System is one piece of how we guide healthy jaw and arch development.
