A dentures or partial dentures are a removable replacement for missing teeth. They are usually made from acrylic and may contain other materials such as porcelain or metal.
There are different types of dentures that can be fit to go over implants. The making of a denture usually requires a series of appointments. Our doctors coordinate appointments with our dental laboratories so that you may receive the best possible service. Even though dentures are not a replacement for natural teeth they should be made to feel comfortable and provide function and esthetics.
Dentures may be the treatment option for you if you’ve lost, or are losing four or more consecutive teeth.
Dentures – Gum Disease
The patient had extensive gum disease that could no longer be conventionally treated.
Long term disease left her with significant bone defects. Her chief concern was to receive something that would not be “too different” than her own teeth but with slight improvements including a brighter and whiter smile.
After thorough analysis, we suggested that all her teeth be removed and an interim denture be fabricated that would serve as an adequate temporary for the final denture.
As the patient requested, we decided to make a denture that would resemble closely to her previous teeth, while somewhat brighter, to exude good health and promote self confidence.

Dentures – Upper Teeth
The prognosis for this patient’s upper teeth was hopeless due to the loss of the underlying bone.
Her main concern was the overall look of the future upper denture.
Our approach was to remove all upper teeth and fabricate a full denture that would enhance her overall appearance while ensuring that she could chew comfortably.
Dentures – Issues with Chewing
The patient was concerned with her ability to chew and talk. She wanted a long term solution that would be both functionally and esthetically acceptable.
Due to the poor and hopeless prognosis of all her teeth, we recommended to transition the patient into implant supported dentures that would improve chewing ability and make her dentures more stable while speaking.
